Common needs & challenges

Arriving in Morocco, with an unfamiliar language and unfamiliar procedures, many steps turn out far more complex than expected. These are the challenges clients like you run into most often.

01

The bank account is often harder than the company

Moroccan banks usually ask you to be there in person to open an account and they scrutinise the file closely, so the smallest mismatch between your papers and your explanation can stall it. We agree the required documents with the bank in advance and go with you to the branch, interpreting on the spot and explaining the background to your business.

02

Your documents need an apostille and a sworn translation

Chinese documents such as your passport, police record and company papers must first be apostilled, then translated into French by a Moroccan sworn translator, a step that is easily overlooked. We give you the full list before you travel and, once you arrive, handle the translation and filing for you.

03

The residence card must be applied for within your 90 visa-free days

Entering visa-free is not the same as holding residence. If you stay beyond 90 days you must apply for a residence card at the local police within the window, and approval usually takes one to three months. We prepare the file, book the appointment and go with you.

04

Lower capital is not always better

There is no legal minimum for share capital, but setting it too low can count against you at the bank, with your residence application and in day-to-day operations, and a company also carries fixed costs such as a registered address and bookkeeping. We tell you honestly where you stand and plan it sensibly.

FAQ

Do I have to come to Morocco?
Not usually for the company registration itself. You can prepare a power of attorney in China, notarised and apostilled, and we coordinate a licensed local firm to sign and file on your behalf. The residence card and a personal bank account do have to be done by you in Morocco, and when the company account is opened the bank usually wants the manager present. We plan around your trip and try to get everything done in a single visit.
Is there a minimum share capital?
A Moroccan limited liability company, the SARL, has no legal minimum share capital today, and the amount is set by the shareholders in the articles. Where the capital is above 100,000 MAD, the paid in part is placed in a blocked bank account and released once the company is registered. Opening a bank account, obtaining residence and later sending profits back to China all depend on the capital amount and how it was paid in, so we recommend transferring it from abroad through a bank and declaring it properly. We advise based on your business size and your residence needs.
How long does it take?
Preparing the documents in China, meaning notarisation, apostille and shipping, usually takes about 1 to 3 weeks. Once the file is complete, registering the Moroccan company takes about 2 to 4 weeks, and the residence card a further 1 to 3 months. The overall time depends on the city, the type of business and how fast the authorities work, and we set out a clear schedule for you before signing.
